When this rotation was created, Ug99 was a real threat to the world’s wheat crop, with no solution in sight. The proposals you considered were the creative ideas of real plant pathologists asked to brainstorm possible solutions to this problem. Any one of the proposals could theoretically succeed or fail, but none of them were being actively pursued at the time. The discussions you had were similar to how real experts would begin to identify a viable solution to a critical situation…and what they might still be doing today.
In this task, you will step outside your fictional role. You will have an opportunity to hear an expert opinion on each of the three solutions. You’ll hear how experts would have assessed the proposals and what they think is possible in terms of a solution. You will also have a chance to reflect on your experience in this rotation.
